My background is in teaching English as a Second language, and I studied Second language acquisition in Barcelona as part of my Master's degree. I was happy to apply for my current role, which is in line with my studies and experience. The decision to become a teacher was not a financial one, but rather a decision made after seeing students develop and grow. I do this because it brings me joy to inspire, guide, and illuminate young creative minds towards reaching their full potential.

I’ve been living and working as a teacher for nearly 20 years, and I still genuinely love coming to school each morning. I’ve had the privilege of teaching children of different ages and backgrounds, and one of the things I enjoy most is the energy, enthusiasm and curiosity that young students bring to the classroom. Their excitement and sense of wonder are a constant reminder of why I became a teacher in the first place. I’m happiest in a classroom where there is plenty of laughter, discussion and discovery, and I hope my students see me as someone who encourages them to be curious, have a go and enjoy learning.

Japanese teacher
“The today you lived in vain is the tomorrow that the person who died yesterday so wished to live.”
Cho Chang-in, from the Korean novel Kashikogi.
I taught Physical Education in Japan for 26 years. At one point, I had the opportunity to teach Japanese to a student from another country. Through that experience, I discovered both the difficulty of learning Japanese and the joy of teaching it. This inspired me to become a qualified Japanese language teacher, and I then taught Japanese at a high school in China for about three years.
I am very happy to be working as a member of the MIS community in Thailand, my favourite country outside Japan. I hope to help my students discover the joy of learning Japanese.

SENCo
“I am still learning”
Michelangelo
I am an international educator and SENCo with a background in psychology and a particular interest in how children learn, develop and experience school. I began my career in language teaching and have spent more than five years working with children and young people in a variety of educational settings.
Before moving to Thailand, I taught in Barcelona, where I also continued developing my knowledge of educational psychology and special education needs. Over the years, I have had the opportunity to teach and volunteer abroad, experiences that have shaped the way I see education and helped me appreciate how differently children learn depending on their individual, linguistic and cultural backgrounds.
I am naturally curious and love continuing to learn myself. Living and working in different countries has been a big part of my life, and I really value the opportunity education gives us to meet people with completely different experiences, perspectives and ways of seeing the world.

“It’s better to fall and get back up moving forward than to stand still and step backward.”
From a book.
I teach Physical Education at MIS, with a particular passion for football. My students know me for teaching and playing football, and for creating an enjoyable and active learning environment. What I enjoy most about teaching is seeing the children smile, laugh, and have fun during lessons. It is especially rewarding to see them enjoy playing sports, develop their skills, and share positive experiences with their friends. I believe that sports can help children build confidence, teamwork, discipline, and a lifelong love of being active.

Visual Arts and Design Technology
“Personal: "Everyone talks about thinking outside the box — I'm more interested in what I can do with the box." Educational philosophy: "Creativity now is as important in education as literacy, and we should treat it with the same status." — Sir Ken Robinson Aspirational: "Logic will get you from A to B. Imagination will take you everywhere." — Albert Einstein”
Personal: My own reflection, developed over years working in Design Technology. Educational philosophy: From Sir Ken Robinson's TED talk, "Do Schools Kill Creativity?" (2006) — one of the most-watched TED talks on education. Aspirational: A line I came across widely shared online, commonly credited to Albert Einstein — though its true origin is uncertain and it doesn't appear in his verified writings.
I teach Art and Design Technology at MIS, and I bring with me an international teaching journey that's taken me through the UK, China, and Egypt. Along the way, I've had the privilege of leading in many different ways — as Head of Art and DT, Head of Faculty across Art, DT, Science, and STEAM, and in pastoral roles including Head of Pastoral Care, Head of Boarding, and Dean of Students.
What matters most to me is getting to know each student as an individual — their strengths, their interests, what makes them curious — and helping them grow both academically and as people. I care just as much about character and wellbeing as I do about grades.
Outside school, I'm always exploring something new — new places, new ideas, new things, I also like to read or create. I also love swimming, and I bring that same sense of curiosity and creativity into everything I do in the classroom.

Kindergarten Homeroom Teacher
“In Early Childhood we create an educational world where young children learn without limits. Every child needs a positive environment in which to learn and develop, and in a setting that inspires creativity and imagination. A child’s first years should be filled with opportunities of discovery, opening probabilities for questioning, exploring their imagination, pursuing vision, and then expressing impressions. School not only prepares children for the world, School is the child's world.”
Its mine

Original work.
I have been part of the MIS family for 12 years, and I feel very happy and grateful to have had the opportunity to work with and teach young children.I hope to be a teacher whom children remember not simply because they once learned with me, but because they remember having a teacher who truly loved, cared for, and believed in them.

Primary Counsellor
“Be a rainbow in someone else's cloud.”
Maya Angelou
I have been working in the field of counseling since 2008. Before moving to Thailand, I spent seven years in the Middle East, including two years in Kuwait and five years in Bahrain.
I believe that every child has the ability to pursue their dreams and interests and to reach their fullest potential. As an educator, I hope to always be someone who is there to listen when a child feels that no one else is available, and to celebrate their achievements when they reach their goals.
In a world full of challenges and uncertainties, we can always choose to uplift others and brighten someone’s day through our words, kindness, and actions. Sometimes, even the smallest gesture can make a meaningful difference in a child’s life.

High School Humanities Teacher (Psychology A levels, IGSCE and Business IGSCE), Sports Coordinator
“Imagination is more important then knowledge".”
Albert Einstein
Hello! I am excited to be teaching Psychology and Business, as well as serving as the Athletic Coordinator at MIS. With over two decades of international teaching experience, I focus on creating a classroom where critical thinking, real-world connection, and curiosity thrive. Beyond the classroom, I love encouraging students to stay active and challenge themselves through sports. Outside of school, you usually find me playing football, hanging with my kids, traveling with my family, or working on creative side projects.

ICT Teacher
“Empty your thoughts and end all your problems.”
Lau Tzu
I believe in the quiet fire of potential. Learning, at its best, is a living workshop where curiosity is the heartbeat and mistakes are simply stepping stones. My classroom is a warm, ambitious space where ideas are built, tested, and celebrated, blending high expectations with genuine care. I see technology not as a takeover, but as a purposeful tool—one that must serve the teacher and deepen understanding, never replace the human connection at the heart of it all. My role is to help every young person discover their own strength and carry it forward.

Head of Lower Primary
“You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself in any direction you choose!”
Dr. Seuss
I am a passionate educator and leader who believes children learn best when they feel safe and can explore through a hands on experience. I am committed to creating nurturing and inclusive environments where every child feels confident and excited to learn. I love to be part of those small meaningful moments when a child discovers something new, or proudly accomplishes something they once found challenging. Seeing children grow into happy, independent learners is a feeling that is hard to explain, but one I cherish everyday at school!

Secondary Physics and Mathematics Teacher
“What matters is not what has been made of us, but what we make of what has been made of us.”
Jean-Paul Sartre
I am Godfrey Ouma, a physics and mathematics teacher who is passionate about helping students develop confidence, curiosity, and a love of learning. Many students know me for greeting them with "Jambo," a Swahili word meaning "Hello." Over the years, students I have taught continue to greet me with "Jambo" whenever we meet around school, and that sense of connection makes MIS feel like a home away from home.
What I enjoy most about teaching physics is helping students see how the subject comes to life in the world around them. From everyday technologies to natural phenomena, physics provides practical evidence of how science shapes our lives. I strive to create an engaging classroom where students are encouraged to ask questions, think critically, and enjoy the excitement of discovery.

Thai Teacher
“Great teaching is not about making children remember everything. It is about inspiring them to stay curious, keep asking questions, and never stop learning.”
I remember hearing this somewhere in the media, but I can’t remember who said it. It was something along these lines.

ELS teacher Year 6
“Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts." – Winston Churchill”
My mother uses it often so it resonates with me. " Bloom where you are planted". A simple reminder that even when circumstances change, new challenges arise, or roles evolve, we can continue to grow, contribute, and make a difference.
After more than three decades in the classroom, I still love the magic of helping students learn and grow. My journey from the blackboard to the smart board has been incredible. As an EAL teacher, I spend my days translating confusion into confidence and celebrating every "I get it!" moment. I've taught children of all ages, but they continue to teach me something new every day. My superpowers include patience, optimism, and finding lost pencils in record time.

“Wherever you go, no matter what the weather, always bring your own sunshine.”
Anthony J.
With 11 years of teaching experience, plenty of energy, enthusiasm, and patience, I’m a preschool teacher at MIS who believes that learning should be joyful, meaningful, and full of curiosity! For me, learning through play is one of the best ways for children to explore, discover, and have fun.
I’m deeply passionate about my work and creating a warm, happy environment where children feel safe to be themselves, explore, ask questions, make mistakes, and have fun.
I love joining in their games, sharing their laughter, and supporting them as they grow. When children feel comfortable, understood, and happy, they gain the confidence to explore, learn, and develop their independence. For me, teaching is about nurturing more than just knowledge. It is about encouraging creativity, kindness, patience, and a love of discovery.
I believe learning is a lifelong journey, so stay curious, keep exploring, and most importantly, enjoy the ride! 🙂

“With freedom, flowers, books, and the moon, who could not be happy?”
Oscar Wilde
What started as my simple curiosity about living abroad has turned into seven years and counting. Building on my background at National University Nazareth School and Far Eastern University Diliman in the Philippines, I turned my love for art into a teaching career here at MIS. My students used to call me "Miss Honey" - the sweetest name I have ever heard and always the best start to my day. Knowing that my students are unique individuals, I always make sure that my classroom is their safe haven, where they can freely express themselves through art. Whenever a student says "I can't", my goal is to guide them until they confidently say "I can". And that's what makes me love art even more. When I'm not in my classroom, you'll likely find me traveling as if stepping straight out of Pinterest or National Geographic.

“Do the best you can until you know better; and when you know better, do better.”
From Maya Angelou - in her Oprah interview in 1990s, discovered this as part of my research in Literary Criticism in my Univeristy days and since then, it has became one of my life mantra.
Connect first, thrive the rest! For me, building those bonds with the students is an absolute part of teaching. Having taught at MIS for seven years, I have learned to take the time to truly get to know each student- their strengths, challenges, and unique interests to build a strong rapport, especially in ELS. I am relentless when it comes to students' progress, using creative strategies to make language learning an exciting adventure. I prefer keeping standards high while being the warm, approachable mentor that they can trust. Outside of school, I love cuddling with my cats, having an afternoon coffee while binge watching a series, and discovering new stories through traveling and reading.

MIS is incredibly fortunate to celebrate a rich diversity. Our uniquely multilingual and multicultural setting is one of our greatest strengths, preparing our students to become true global citizens who lead with empathy and integrity.
Thank you for your warm welcome into this incredible community. I am thrilled about what lies ahead and look forward to working in close partnership with all of you to unlock the full potential of MIS.
Warm Regards,
Dr. Connie Kim
Executive Head of School
