Secondary Curriculum

Pupils in the Secondary School at MIS follow a rigorous academic programme designed to challenge them with the finest elements of a modern British curriculum, shaped within our unique school setting to meet the diverse needs of all our learners. MIS students will emerge from the school fully equipped to handle the skills required to succeed in the 21st Century. MIS pupils will be genuine lifelong learners with an understanding of the importance of personal growth and social responsibility as a result of the academic rigour and core values we embed through our classroom practice, pupil leadership and extra-curricular opportunities.

Key Stage 3 pupils in Years 7-9 follow the UK National Curriculum and experience learning through an international lens, providing context and application for our very diverse learners from all around the globe. Pupils study individual subjects with specialist teachers, develop practical skills in Science, DT, ICT, and Art, and prepare themselves for the next stage in their education – KS4 and IGCSE examinations.

Key Stage 4 pupils in Years 10 and 11 prepare for IGCSE examinations for 16-year-olds through a two-year course of study. All pupils undertake Mathematics, English, and a Science, as compulsory subjects, but are also given a variety of subject options within Humanities, the Arts, Science, and languages

Key Stage 5 Pupils in Years 12 and 13 take part in our A-Level academic programme, which is an English qualification that is recognised across the globe as excellent preparation for university. The KS5 environment is one that constantly encourages and challenges pupils to excel in their high-level subjects of choice, with guidance from outstanding and passionate specialist teachers. Pupils are encouraged to pursue their interests both inside and outside of the classroom, making for a busy, engaging, and rewarding environment. MIS pupils completing this program will graduate as independent lifelong learners who will be well-prepared for the rigours of university study.
